Jambo Jet a subsidiary of Kenya Airways has acquired two aircrafts worth sh 6.6 billion in anticipation of the rise in the number of customers over the coming Christmas Holiday.
According to the Daily Nation, on Friday the carrier's Chief Executive Officer Willem Hondius said in a statement that the new acquisition is set to allow the company to increase it's operations hence calling for an expansion of the company.
"We are confident that the Q400 aircraft will allow us to implement our growth strategy as we strive to launch new routes and to respond to the anticipated increase in demand," Willem Hondius, the company's CEO said as quoted by Daily Nation.
In addition, the CEO said that they are in the process to do away with their narrowbody sized planes to allow the entrance of the new Q400.
"We are looking at retiring our narrowbody fleet, currently Boeing 737s and transitioning to an all Q400 fleet by the end of this year, " Mr. Hondius added.
A good number of Jambo Jet customers had over the past few weeks reported that they either experienced delays or their flights got cancelled.
