The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) director general Gilbert Macharia Kibe said they were conducting investigations after getting information that the huge flight was forced to land at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa County, therefore delaying passengers.

In a letter dated December 30, 2016 to Kenya Coast Tourism Association (KCTA) chairman Mohamed Hersi, Kibe said: "KCCA will also investigate delays and cancellations of flights to Malindi and Lamu in North Coast and Ukunda in South Coast at the eleventh-hour without properly informing the affected passengers."

The investigations follow public outcry from passengers who lamented that they had to be transported by bus from Moi International Airport, back to Ukunda.

According to the Daily Nation, Kibe assured that a legal would be taken against Jambojet if found culpable of the allegations.
