Kenya’s low-cost carrier Jambojet will begin two daily flights to Uganda beginning next month. The flights between Nairobi and Entebbe slated to start on February 15, will mark the aircraft’s regional launch and make the Kenya Airways subsidiary the first regional budget airline to operate on that route with an introductory fare of Sh11,330 one-way.Jambojet chief executive Willem Hondius said the move was motivated by the upward traffic trend the airline has experienced domestically, citing it as a key determinant in regional expansion.“We are delighted to launch direct service to Entebbe, a much-anticipated addition to our network where we will offer frequent and new flyers even more affordable fares,” said Hondius on Monday.“This new route will connect businesses in Kenya and Uganda while also appealing to leisure travelers, offering them the opportunity to experience the ‘Pearl of Africa,” he added.Jambojet presently flies to Eldoret, Kisumu, Malindi, Mombasa, Nairobi and Ukunda and recently added Wajir to its destination list. The airline has in the recent months increased numbers of routes from four to six, increased the frequency of flights due to fleet expansion and flown over two million passengers.
