Janet Sitienei Rotich has been declared the winner for Turbo Member of Parliament seat.

Rotich, an independent candidate garnered 36,444 votes to beat Jubilee candidate Kevin Okwara who had 30, 914 votes.

Orange Democratic Movement's (ODM) candidate David Songok finished third with 9,647 votes.

Turbo constituency, home to Deputy President William Ruto has been on the spotlight since Okwara who is considered an outsider in the county clinched the Jubilee party ticket after flooring over 14 candidates.

Janet Rotich finished second during the party primaries and opted to vie as an independent candidate with other losers throwing their weight behind her.

She now becomes the second independent MP to be elected in Uasin Gishu after William Chepkut floored Samuel Chepkonga in Ainabkoi.
