[Photo| the-star]Olympic marathon champion Jemimah Sumgong has apologised to Kenyans after she tested positive for erythropoietin (EPO).Sumgong was banned for four years by the Kenya anti-doping agency on Tuesday."I’m sorry to all my family and my team. Four years I'll be back," Sumgong wrote on her twitter account, Friday.The athlete was the first Kenyan woman to win gold in the Olympic marathon title during the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.Her four-year ban was backdated to April 3, the date which she was provisionally suspended by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).If she wishes to appeal the decision, Sumgong has until November 20 to file the appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
