Former World 800M champion Janet Jepkosgei has unveiled the 2017 Janeth Jepkosgei Junior Athletes Training Camp at Kapchemoiywo.

The launch, which took place last week, was attended by Nandi county CeC in charge of sports Elly Kurgat.

“I am very passionate about nurturing talent because I am a product of a training camp like this one we have launched. I was trained in Iten at Bro Cold O’connel’s camp when I was still a kid, “Jepkosgei said.

“Make use of this opportunity to establish yourself. Build your athletic career as well as incorporate it with education,” she added.

AK Central Rift Secretary Kennedy Tanui and Kilibwoni Ward MCA Cynthia Muge were among those who came to witness what Jepkosgei said She established in the year 2014 with an aim of training junior athletes mainly from primary and secondary schools in the county.

“Make use of this opportunity to establish yourself. Build your athletic career as well as incorporate it with education,” she added.

CEC Kurgat said Nandi County fielded some of the athletes at the recent IAAF world Under-18 championships in Nairobi lauding Janeth’s move in nurturing talent.

He said the initiative will help in ensuring that Nandi continues churning out the best in athletics.
