According to Nyamira County Women Representative Jerusha Mongina Momanyi, parents and local leaders should step up efforts to ensure children are enrolled in schools to get proper education for a better future.

"To unlock the high levels of poverty in our society our children should go to school to acquire skills which will help them be good citizens to provide for their families.

"The government is giving free education and parents should not frustrate the government's efforts to have the children to be in school all times during school time," she noted.

The lawmaker added that she will issue bursary funds using the Affirmative action funds kitty to total orphans and children living with disabilities who are in various schools from the region.

She assured that throughout her tenure she will push her male MP counterparts to push Nyamira County government to ensure each child in the county has gone to school and no one drops schools.

"I am not going to keep quiet until I see education levels in Nyamira County improve. Children dropping schools must be reported to authorities so that they can be forced back to school to study for a brighter future," she said.
