Former KTN investigative journalist Mohamed Ali who is in the race to succeed Nyali MP Hezron Awiti in the August polls has responded to an attack directed at him by Heritage Hotels Group Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Hersi.
In a Twitter post, Hersi claimed that Moha Jicho Pevu was not born in Mombasa and that as such, he should not be elected as the next Nyali MP as he doesn't know the needs of the constituency's residents. It was a statement that elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans who came to the defense of Ali saying that he is a Kenyan who has every right to seek for an elective seat anywhere. In an interview with a local TV station on Monday, Ali broke his silence over the matter and told off Hersi. He said despite being born in Isiolo, he has spent much of his entire life in Mombasa, a place he calls home. He added that he knows the problems that the residents of Mombasa and especially Nyali constituency go through.Ali will face off with his bitter rival Saeed Salim, Joho's cousin, during the ODM primaries which are expected to be conducted on Friday April 7.
