Businessman Jimi Wanjigi has been charged in a Nyeri court in absentia with importing a prohibited firearm.
Wanjigi was represented in court on Thursday by his lawyer Kiogora Mugambi.
He will take a plea on Monday.
The summons was served in a dramatic incident when heavily armed police officers surrounded the businessman’s car at Museum Hill, Nairobi on Wednesday afternoon.
The officers in four vehicles blocked Wanjigi’s car and ordered him out but he declined to open it, causing drama on Prof Wangari Maathai Road.
The officers eventually pasted the summons on the front windscreen of his car.
