The United Democratic Party national director of elections Justus Ooga Rasugu has urged residents in western Kenya to identify a neutral candidate who will be their flag bearer in next year's general election.

Addressing journalists in Nyamira, Rasugu said UDP party leader Cyrus Jirongo has all it takes to lead the western people because other candidates seem to be pushed by either the Jubilee or Cord coalitions.

He said Jirongo is neutral and therefore fit to carry the community's mantle.

"Jirongo is a businessperson who has no donor or sponsor for his candidature. These are the leaders we want who don't involve themselves in corruption or depend on other people to prosper," added Rasugu on Tuesday.

He cautioned voters in western Kenya not to trust those purportedly fighting for the bloc's share from the government, adding that they are only after massaging their own egos and will drop their candidatures to their beneficiaries when the right time for them comes.

"Be wary of these big names , they will sell you after they have filled their stomachs and the western vote will land in the intended box," added Rasugu.
