[Photo/Courtesy]August 8th elections presidential candidate Cyrus Jirongo has dismissed reports that he is broke.In a letter to Chief Justice, David Maraga, (dated 10th October 2017), the former Lugari MP dismissed media reports that he has been served with a bankruptcy notice by the High Court.Jirongo said he has never been served with any decree, bankruptcy notice or other court proceedings“I have learned with shock from media reports that the High Court declared me bankrupt. I was taken by surprise by these media reports, which began trending yesterday evening as I have never been served with any decree, bankruptcy notice or other court proceedings," reads part of the letter.Jirongo was declared bankrupt on Tuesday this week, after he was unable to pay a debt of Sh700 million, by Commercial Court judge Olga Sewe, who ruled in favour of Jirongo's creditor, businessman Sammy Kogo.The move comes after IEBC announced that all presidential candidates in the August elections, will take part in the October 26th fresh elections.Since the law bars someone who is bankrupt, from vying for the presidency, Jirongo seeks to clear his name, so as to be on the ballot.
