Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) officials have refuted claims by NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga that his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula were barred from leaving the country.
According to media reports, the two NASA leaders were momentarily blocked from leaving the country for Uganda.
However, in a quick rejoinder, Immigration Director Gordon Kihalangwa denied NASA's allegations, saying the two Opposition leaders boarded a Kenya Airways plane to Entebbe at 10.30am.
“The PA for Hon Kalonzo Musyoka, after settling him returned to do the usual immigration requirements of having the passports endorsed. As expected, the Immigration officers would check the systems, and they were checked accordingly,” he said in a statement.
Kihalangwa further revealed that Kalonzo had called him to confirm if they needed to clear with the immigration office.
“I categorically told him no and he said it is okay. They finally departed at 1105hrs for Entebbe without any hitch,” he remarked.
