The County Government of Nyamira has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in aid of the construction of a Bio Technology Laboratory in Nyamira Township as one way of boosting the agriculture sector.
Speaking during the signing of the MoU in his office on Monday, Governor John Nyagarama said that they signed the understanding so that they can boost agriculture sector in the county.
The construction of the laboratory will cost Sh34 million, and will go a long way in helping the agriculture sector in the county, with the region being one of the most productive in the sector.
JKUAT Vice Chancellor Prof. Mabel Imbuga said they are delighted in signing the MOU with the county Government.
“Today [Monday] we are signing this MoU with JKUAT as one way of showing our willingness to work with such institutions to boost our agriculture sector which is the backbone of our county,” said Nyagarama.
The Vice Chancellor added that the MoU will help the county to develop as they will have strategies on how they can work with county government on improving agriculture sectors.
