Jobless defaulters of Higher Education Loans Board loans will be among key survivors should opposition leader Raila Odinga win presidency in August.

Under the current law, University students who benefit from the funds are supposed to start repayment of the loan a year after their gradation.

But in a move to bring radical surgery, NASA government will ensure that the law is changed to allow beneficiaries to repay the loans once they get stable jobs.

“It is quite appalling that a jobless fellow is supposed to repay the loans even before they get jobs,” lamented Odinga during Monday’s rally at Homabay.

He added: “we shall ensure that we empower these beneficiaries so that they create their own jobs before repaying the loans. We must be fair to all.”

According to Odinga, Jubilee administration has failed to curb exponential unemployment making it difficult for the youths to survive in harsh economic moments.

For one to be employed both in private and public sectors in the country, the person must be cleared by the HELB regulatory body failure to which one could miss out opportunities.
