Kenyan Joyciline Jepkosgei continued her record-breaking performance to win World half marathon record in record time at Valencia Trinidad Alfonso.
The Sunday race came six months and three weeks after Jepkosgei set another record. She smashed her previous record by a second after completing the race in 1 hour, 04 minutes and 51 seconds.
On April 1 this year, Jepkosgei stunned her competitors in the Czech Capital City, Prague, by winning after 1:04:52.
This was a new world record set at the Prague Half Marathon. This erased Peres Jepchirchir’s February 10, 2017 World Half Marathon record of 1:05:06. Jepchirchir won in United Arab Emirates during the Ras al-Khaimah Half Marathon.
The same Spanish soil saw Kenya’s Florence Kiplagat break world record twice in 2014 and 2015 clocking 1:05:12 and 1:05:09 respectively.
“It was my first race in Valencia, I enjoyed a lot, the weather is nice, the circuit is perfect to run fast. I hope to come back in March for the World Half Marathon Championships,” said the 23-year-old Jepkosgei as reported by Nation.
