Standard group managing editor, Joe Ageyo on Friday called it quits from the Kenya's leading broadcaster, KTN News.

The celebrated journalist posted on his twitter account: " I am humbled to have worked with the greatest news team in town. Together we conquered mountains. We launched the country's only 24-hour news channel and got it to the top tier in 18 months.May God watch over you all KTN News as I take on the next assignment. Love you all," he exclaimed.

He became part of KTN in 2000 as a general news reporter with a special focus on environmental stories and he is widely recognized for having pioneered Environmental Journalism on Kenyan television.

He was the first Kenyan TV journalist to start a regular slot for an environmental feature, Ecojournal which is a show that has won him executive awards which include the Environmental Journalist of the Year in 2001 staged by the National Media Trust.

Ageyo also worked for NTV from February of 2005 to November of 2012 where he held various positions such as the Head of News Production and he also previously worked for the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation as well as the Royal Media Services.

He holds an Msc in Environmental Governance from the University of Manchester, a Bachelor of Agribusiness Management from Egerton University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from University of Nairobi and a certificate in Advanced Studies in Environmental Diplomacy from the University of Geneva, Switzerland.
