Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru has challenged the youth to be ambassadors of change and reach out to their respective members of parliament to facilitate the setup of Constituency Innovative Hubs (CIH) in partnership with his Ministry.
In a speech read on his behalf by ICT Information Secretary Judy Munyinyi at Tom Mboya Labour Collage in Kisumu, Mucheru said MPs have been slow to come on board in support of the Ministry’s initiative of providing four hubs in each of the 290 constituencies.
He said the internet connectivity challenge will be solved if the target is achieved hence saving the online workers from the burden of purchasing costly internet bundles.Mucheru urged the partakers of the jobs not to be concerned about credibility and authenticity of online work assuring that the jobs are credible, descent and prestigious the same way the highly rated jobs are.“The active involvement of the government to encourage you to take up online work is a surety that the work is genuine,” he said, Monday. The CS noted the demand of online jobs was insatiable as thousands of jobs are posted online adding that the government has plans to have some of its works offloaded to the online platform. He said that the jobs had capacity to culminate into a big growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) besides also bridging the gap of the dwindled jobs in the formal employment sector.
