Residents of Jogoo area within Kisii town have raised alarm over increased crime in the area.
This is after a lifeless body of a man was found on Saturday morning by the roadside.
Locals said that the man might have been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped there.
“We are in fear because of poor security in the area. Police officers should intensify patrols in the area to end crime,” said Jared Ouru.
According to Ouru police officers use extra force when cracking down illicit brew but fail to do so on matters crime.
“Police should use the same force they use when dealing with illicit brew dealers to arrest criminals terrorizing locals here. We feel insecure especially at night,” he added.
Vane Bwari, a trader said they are forced to close their businesses early for fearing to be attacked.
“We close businesses by 6 pm daily due to fear of our safety. Security teams need to beef up security and not sleeping on the job,” she said.
