The rivalry between Mombasa governor Ali Hassan Joho and Senator Hassan Omar appears to be deepening with just 29 days to the next general elections.
The two are gunning for the Coastal county's top seat during the forthcoming polls.
They have been trading barbs and accusations against one another, with each seeking to outsmart the other.
Last week, governor Joho accused Jubilee of backrolling Omar's political activities, in a move aimed at scuttling the NASA vote in the County.
The lawmaker has, however, since refuted the allegations, arguing that Joho is seeking sympathy votes after losing his political grip on the County.
But just days after the sensational accusations, Omar's campaign sectariat was on Friday attacked by an armed gang, leaving one of the senator's aide injured.
Omar has since linked Joho to the attack, accusing the outspoken governor of frustrating his gubernatorial bid.
He is eyeing the seat under Wiper Party, whereas Joho will be seeking to defend his seat on an ODM party ticket - both under Opposition coalition NASA.
