The war of words between Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his political rival Suleiman Shahbal is back on play.
In his press briefing on Friday, Shahbal accused Governor Joho of sabotage, linking him to an incident where his billboard was pulled down. The Jubilee candidate further stated that Joho had threatened to cancel licenses for advertising companies Magnet Ventures and Adsite, prompting them to distance themselves from him.He attributed the recent happenings to acts of cowardice by Joho, saying the ODM deputy party leader is scared of his rising popularity in the race for the county top seat."My opponent has run scared with our rising popularity and threatened billboard companies with license cancellation should they host my billboards,” he said.“We today issued a statement to remind my opponent that billboards don't vote. It's the people who vote and we are with the people," Shahbal said.According to Shahbal, nothing will stop them from winning the race on August 8.Shahbal further alleged that the county administration has set up a unit to tear down their campaign posters and banners.
