Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has expressed his frustration with the Jubilee government for allegedly undermining development in the county.
Speaking at the Mombasa show ground during the official launch of the Governor's Bursaries Awards on Saturday, Joho claimed that the national government led by President Uhuru Kenyatta was out to punish residents of Mombasa.
"They say they will teach us a lesson but we will teach them a lesson first," said Joho.
He further said that despite Mombasa being Kenya's entry point, the county has not benefited in anyway as the entire revenue from the Port of Mombasa goes to the national government.
"The Mombasa Port does not benefit the county in anyway. All the revenue goes to the national government. This is a deliberate plan to prevent our growth," said Joho.
Joho who is also ODM's deputy party leader maintained that Raila Odinga was the right man to end this 'discrimination' and thus asked Mombasa residents to elect him in the coming general election.
The governor further criticised the president for discriminating the Waitiki land squatters, saying Mombasa is the only county where squatters have to buy land.
