During the session at Parliament building in Nairobi, members of the Public Accounts and Investment Committee chaired by Kisumu Senator Anyang Nyong'o wanted Joho to explain the county's tendering process as well as the amount of money spent on development projects.

"Why did you pick suppliers out of the supply list and secondly why did you not go through open tendering?" asked Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi.

However, Joho defended his record arguing that the county government has had several issues which it has worked hard to tackle appropriately.

"There have never been delays in payment of salaries and there have never been strikes as the nurses strike was the last one that was experienced. We have worked to ensure efficiency in the county,” said Joho.

In addition, the Committee members also wanted Joho to explain why county officials breached the procurement laws during the acquisition of county vehicles.

Senator Anyang Nyong'o asked the governor to bring all the receipts for all questioned projects before the Committee on August 26, 2016.
