Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has asked the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to name the firms managing its servers and soft wares for scrutiny in a bid to curb rigging in the forthcoming general election.
Speaking at Voi Stadium in Taita Taveta, Joho said that the opposition is tired of rigging, adding that this time they are not going to take it lying down like in past elections."If they steal we are ready to deal with them," he said, as quoted by Nation. A number of leaders including Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Raila Odinga, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi have affirmed that they will accept nothing but fair elections come August 8.During the same tour, Joho assured the opposition that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will not get any votes from the Coast, adding that the region is an ODM stronghold."President Kenyatta will not get any votes at the coast," said Joho. The governor’s tour comes a few days after President Uhuru Kenyatta promised Joho a dose of his own medicine.Joho and Kingi have been faulting the government for attempting to joyride on projects initiated by foreign companies and nations.
