ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho has guaranteed the Orange Democratic movement (ODM) candidates eyeing for various elective seats across the country, that the party will hold free and fair nominations.
The Mombasa governor ruled out speculations that the party has preferred aspirants.
Joho was speaking at capitol Hill, Nairobi, after holding talks with Migori governor Okoth Obado and Odinga’s secretariat a day after ODM Migori rally was marred with chaos.
According to a statement from party leader Raila Odinga’s spokesperson, Dennis Onyango, the two governors condemned the incident.
“The two condemned the violence that occurred at the party’s meeting in Migori on Monday. They agreed to support free and fair nominations,” read part of the statement, Tuesday.
“Mr Joho, who is the ODM deputy party leader, assured the party fraternity that there were no preferred candidates,” added the statement.
ODM party nomination are set to begin April 7, this even as over 400 aspirants have already been rewarded direct party tickets ahead of the August polls as they lacked competitors in their aspiring elective posts.
