Joho’s message comes amidst speculations that top party officials are plotting to rig out some candidates as the next general election draws closer.

Speaking during a voter registration awareness campaign in Mombasa, the governor said there is no need to raise alarm over the up coming party nominations, since no one will be favoured regardless of his position.

He, instead called upon aspirants to concentrate on their campaigns and mobilise residents to register as voters.

"The fear that the party nominations will be rigged is unfounded. You should expect a free and fair exercise. Your focus now should be registration of as many voters as possible," he said, as quoted by the Standard.

Different aspirants have urged ODM’s party officials to ensure fairness in order to avoid weakening the political outfit as it looks forward to clinching various seats including the presidency.

Cord principal Raila Odinga has also assured aspirants of fair nominations, saying endorsements have cost the party in past elections.

Several new entrants are out to challenge the incumbents in the August elections.
