Tony Gachoka, political analyst, on Wednesday bashed Mombasa governor for his current trips oversee. According to Mr. Tony, it is high time the Mombasa governor limited his absenteeism and worked for his county.
Speaking during an interview with Jeff Koinange on JKL live, Mr. Gachoka said that Mombasa deserved a working governor and if Joho is not interested in working then he should not be in office.
He argued that the governor should lead by example by working because devolution needs a working person who should always be on the ground working for his people.
"I think that these kind of things should not be accepted. Elections of CEOs in counties is a very serious matter and I think the public deserves a working governor," said Mr. Gachoka.
Mombasa governor, Ali Joho, has been silent in the political scene since the golden handshake between President Uhuru and honourable Raila Odinga. Instead, the governor has been doing foreign trips since March in countries such as France, Spain and Australia.
Little has been heard from the ODM leader since he last spoke at an ODM meeting meant to unveil its various leaders.
Mr. Gachoka claimed that Mombasa has been neglected with filth being common across the county. He urged the governor to lead by example by being on the ground and helping his people as required by devolution. Otherwise, if he is not interested in working for his county then he should leave office.
He cited the gateway to the airport and around some hotels as some areas filled with garbage.
"And you know whoever you are wherever you are, if you are not interested in working or running your county I think you should not be in office because the county is meant to hold you to account and you are meant to lead by example," he warned.
