Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has urged residents to exercise caution in a bid to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

This comes after unknown people created a fake Facebook account, that was purportedly run by the governor's office to disseminating information on his behalf.

Governor Joho said he had filed the necessary fraud alert and taken all necessary action to ensure that any incident that arises is duly acted upon.

“I herby confirm that the said sites are fraudulent and are not in any way affiliated to me or my office and thus caution the public at large to take all reasonable precaution when they encounter or in any way deal with these sites,” said the governor in a Facebook post.
