Police in Mombasa are said to have blocked Governor Hassan Joho from attending the launch of the Standard Gauge Railway.
The event is being presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Joho's communications manager, Richard Chacha, confirmed that police blocked the ODM deputy party leader from accessing the launch venue.
Chacha said they will address the media on the incident later.
Speaking during a NASA rally at Donholm on Sunday, Joho vowed to attend the event and ask the President tough questions regarding the alleged inflated cost of the multi-billion project.
In March, the Governor was blocked from attending relaunch of the Mtongwe Ferry over fears that he was planning to engage the President in a public spat.More to follow…..
