Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Wednesday brought businesses to a standstill, when he stopped to greet Kisumu locals at Kondele on his way to town.
The un-expecting locals appeared in large numbers chanting ODM and Joho slogans as they rushed to have a glimpse of the Mombasa politician.
Governor Joho was in the company of Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Mathew Achieng Owili, and his Mombasa counterpart Dr William Kingi.
The vocal politician reiterated the importance of the hand shake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his party leader, adding that he supports Odinga's ambitions to unite the country.
“We support all initiatives by H.E Raila Odinga to foster exclusivity and build bridges in this great nation. If this includes a referendum for and by the people of Kenya, so be it,” noted Joho.
He assured ODM followers that the movement is still intact, and thwarted claims that it crumbled after a series of handshakes from its Leader Raila Odinga.
“Our party is still solid and compact but we want to strengthen it and Raila’s position more, so that he is assured of our backing when he engages the other leaders across the country,” said Governor Joho.
