Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has challenged Deputy President William Ruto to volunteer for a lifestyle audit then he will follow suit.
Joho said Ruto has a lot of baggage that needs to be brought to light.
“Name an international audit firm of your choice, I want to be audited but as that is happening, William Ruto should also do the same so that I as I defend myself so does Ruto.” Said Joho who was speaking in a memorial of the late HomaBay senator Otieno Kajwang on Sunday.
This comes after the Auditor-General Edward Ouko early this month put governors on the spot light after he pointed out the major financial misappropriations running into billion of Shillings happening in the County Government.
In Mombasa County where Joho is the Governor, the auditor flagged the county government for failing to spend Ksh1 billion allocated for development in the 2014/15 financial year.
Departments of health and education had the highest balances of development funds at Ksh318 million and Ksh138.7 million respectively.
These revelations put Joho on the spot and leaders from the Jubilee called for an Audit on Joho`s lifestyle but Joho said he is ready as long as Ruto signs up for the audit too.
