Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has accused the government of excelling in the "killing, torturing and sponsoring the disappearance" of a section of Kenyans.
Speaking in Mombasa on Saturday, the ODM deputy party leader accused the government of the brutal murder of innocent citizens.
“Kenyans will note that in the first four years of President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration, we have witnessed the killing of Kabete MP George Muchai, the unexplained assassination of Jacob Juma, the brutal torture, and murder of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client, and his driver,” he said.
He added that 30 people arrested by police for interrogation have never been released.
“More than 24 Sheikhs have been executed… This trend that has only gotten worse under Jubilee,” he said.
Joho was speaking in response to Thursday incident at Kisii's Daraja Mbili market where two women were allegedly shot dead by bodyguards.
“It is really unfortunate that the very people meant to provide our citizens with safety and security are the same ones that have brought terror and misery on them,” he said.
In the recent years, the government has been accused of conducting extrajudicial killings against crime suspects and activists seen to be opposed to the government's policies.
