Governor Hassan Joho has condemned the Sunday terror attack at the Mombasa Central Police Station.
Joho who addressed the media at the station described the attack as cowardly.
"I strongly condemn this cowardly act and commend the police officers for acting decisively in the encounter," he said.
Earlier in the morning, three suspected terrorists made an attempt at the Central Police Station in Mombasa.
Police officers however, acted swiftly and neutralized the threat.
Three terror suspects were killed during the attack that occurred on Sunday at 10am.
County police commander Peterson Maelo said three women in hijabs went to the station pretending they wanted to report a crime.
Maelo said one of them took out a knife and stabbed the officer manning the report desk forcing his colleagues to shoot at them.
Two were shot on the spot while the third was gunned down as she tried to escape.
An officer sustained injuries during melee and was rushed to hospital.
"As we commemorate this holy day with Muslims all over observing Hajj in the holy city of Makkah, let’s continue to pray for peace and tranquility for our country," Joho said.
