Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has condoled with victims of the Somali attack.
At least 276 people died following a truck bomb attack in the Somali capital Mogadishu on Saturday.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Joho condemned the attack, terming it as barbaric.
“It is with profound shock that I offer condolences to the people of Mogadishu and Somalia in General. Today we mourn with our Somali brothers and sisters, following the barbaric terrorist attack which has left over 300 people dead and scores injured,” read the post in part.
“Mombasa being a member of the Strong Cities Network prays for strength and patience for the people of Somalia,” he added.
More than 300 people were injured during the suicide bombing in Zobe District.
The attack has been referred to as the deadliest terror attack in Somalia.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Several countries including Kenya, United States, Britain, Canada, France, Turkey and have condemned the attack.
Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed declared three days of mourning in the country following the attack.
