Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has said he will challenge President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto for presidency come 2022.
Governor Joho who was speaking in Majengo on Sunday said the country should prepare to vote him as the President in the 2022 general election.
“The country should be ready to vote for me as the first President from Coast in 2022. Kenya belongs to all of us and we must enjoy freedom and opportunity equally,” said Mr Joho.
The governor criticised President Uhuru over his statement where he said those who want the presidency should wait for 2032.
Jubilee government cannot decide who will be the president for the next two decades, he said.
“This country cannot be led by two communities only. I heard President Uhuru saying those who want the presidency should wait for 2032.”
Also present was Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir who said he will support Governor Joho’s bid for presidency in 2022.
“The race has already began and we have a president for 2022 here with us today,” said Mr Nassir.
