Joho who was speaking after launching several project in Mombasa, said there was nothing wrong in Raila overseeing the launch, since he is a national leader just like President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

This comes after Governor Kingi was accused of sidelining the government by choosing to work with the oppsition leader whom critics say has not initiated any development projects in the area.

"Raila is a national leader who received millions of votes from the Kenyan electorates and therefore there is no harm in him being the chief guest. After all, no one has stopped the president and his deputy from attending the function,” said Joho.

The governor said the people of Kilifi have full confidence in the former Prime Minister and thats why they voted for him in the 2013 elections, adding that those who think he has no stakes in Kilifi are greatly mistaken.

"Raila is like the president to the people of Kilifi and thats why they turned out in large numbers in the last general elections to vote for him. That shows complete confidence in Raila,” said Joho.
