Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has dismissed claims that he appointed a brother to celebrated KTN new anchor Betty Kyalo to his cabinet.
On Wednesday, the ODM Deputy Party Leader unveiled ten people to serve as County Executive Committee members with one Kelvin Kyalo named to take over youth docket.
Through an aide who spoke in confidence, Kyalo has no relationship with Betty and that he previously worked as Chief of Staff during Joho's first term.
"Kevin is not a brother to Betty and he has worked for the governor before. I think it's just character assassination from some people," said the source.
The source further noted: "The brother to Kyalo is called Brian so whatever is circulating online is just malicious propaganda."
Joho, a confident of opposition leader Raila Odinga, is pushing for secession of coastal region from Kenya, a move that has been condemned by Jubilee politicians.
Also appointed to the cabinet is Seth Odongo, a University of Nairobi scholar, who will head devolution docket.
