Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has distanced himself from allegations that he defied a court order involving a property row.
Joho and the two officials had been taken to court by Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) for allegedly disobeying an order barring them from destroying a wall fencing the corporations 22.5 acres of land.
Through his lawyer, Lucy Momanyi, the governor said he was not presented with a formal letter from the court over the matter.
This comes after county officers under the leadership of Joho demolished a wall constructed by KBC around the property last year.
Reports indicate that KBC was given a permit by the court to fence the piece of land located in Kisimani after it launched a complaint over encroaching squatters.
KBC lawyer Protus Saende wants Joho, county secretary Francis Thoya and Lands executive Anthony Njaramba to be committed to civil jail for contempt of court over the land issue.
Saende told Judge Anne Omollo that the three county officials had deliberately decided to disobey the order issued by Justice Mohammed Ibrahim on September 25, 2012.
The corporation also wants the team to be compelled to pay Sh1.9 million.
However, Joho's lawyer said KBC should have sought for approval from the county government before embarking on the construction of the wall.
