Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu has defended president Uhuru Kenyatta, for ‘frustrating’ Mombasa governor Hassan Joho.
He said the Uhuru did nothing wrong by denying Joho access to attend the re-launching of Mtongwe ferry, Monday.
“I want to say and I want to be on record, president was right. I do not sympathise with Joho,” Mutambu said.
The legislature who was speaking during a television interview, said Joho’s aim was to disrupt Uhuru’s function.
He questioned why he had to wait for the president to visit the county for him to say what he wanted.
“When he says that he was denied chance to discharge his duties, he had all the time. Why do you have to wait for the president to come to say what you want to say?” Mutambu wondered.
“You can as well do whatever you want to do at your own time,” he added.
According to Mutambu, the best thing the government had to do was block the Mombasa governor from attending the function in order to prevent chaos.
“If you do not want people to fight in your presence then tell them to stay away.”
Joho had earlier indicated he will attend the president’s event to reply to accusations that had been leveled against him by Uhuru.
