Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has denied reports that he missed the Council of Governors (CoG) Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Kwale County due to political reasons.Through his director of communications Richard Chacha, Joho said he snubbed the meeting which was opened by President Uhuru Kenyatta because of other commitments."The Governor had other prearranged commitments like the lighting of Christmas Tree, meeting Chinese delegates and chairing his Cabinet meeting," said Chacha.Speaking at COG AGM held at Diani Reef Beach Resort, the President warned Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi against pushing for the secession of the Coast region.Chacha, however, explained that Joho's differences with Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto are not personal, arguing that they were due to the Jubilee administration's failure to address problems affecting Coast residents."The Governor spoke openly even before the President. If those are the differences then I can assure you it will continue," said Chacha. The governors who attended the AGM re-elected Turkana County boss Josephat Nanok as the CoG chairman. Nanok will hold the seat for six months.Kwale Governor Salim Mvuya will take over from Nanok who is now being deputised by his Kirinyaga counterpart Anne Waiguru.
