For the past few weeks,  an irked Ruto has warned that the country is not ready for yet another campaigns, in responses to rumours about a looming referendum.

"We should talk of development and not persistent politicking. Nobody is ready to change the constitution just to create positions for some people," he said at a function in Eldoret.

Among the agreement reportedly reached by President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga is a referendum that would reintroduce the position of executive PM among other posts.

ODM deputy leader Hassan Joho is the latest high profile leader to join the debate,  insisting that he would spearhead campaigns to have parliamentary system of government introduced.

"There is some people saying they can't allow constitutional changes yet they want to be presidents.

"If they are men enough,  they should be ready for anything. We shall push for those amendments whether he likes it or not," he told supporters in Kisumu on Wednesday.

Earlier, his party boss Raila had insisted that "no obstacle can sabotage" what he had agreed with Uhuru.

By 2020, the country could be subjected to yet another plebscite, the third in as many years.
