Governor Hassan Joho on December 16, flagged off construction works for a cruise ship service terminal in Mombasa, an investment he said will boost tourism at the Coastal town.
The terminal, he said, will help service cruise ships docking in Mombasa.
"I had the pleasure of joining Tourism Cabinet Secretary, Najib Balala, Trade Mark East Africa Director General David Stanton, Kenya Ports Authority Managing Director Catherine Mturi and the tourism stakeholders in launching the development of the Cruise ship terminal at the port of Mombasa," he said on his official Facebook account.
"The terminal will consist of all the necessary required amenities to service cruise ships and tourists docking at the port. This is expected to help boost the Tourism sector apart from complementing the growth of business in Mombasa County and the Coast region at large."
Mombasa is among Africa's tourists preferred destination and the launch is expected to boost tourist numbers at the Coast.
The development is fully funded by Trade Mark East Africa and the Kenya Ports Authority.
