A renewal of political rivalry between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mombasa governor Hassan Joho was set to be ignited during the Standard Guage Railway lunch in Mombasa on Tuesday after  Sunday swipe where the Mombasa's self proclaimed Sultan threatened to challenge Uhuru during the launch.

Joho had said he will stop the launch if President Uhuru Kenyatta fails to answer his questions over the additional Sh100 billion cost for the railway.

"I would like an opportunity to speak from the podium and ask where the money they stole is. I want to tell them they must give all the profits back to Kenyans," he said.

The Statement by the Mombasa governor would seem as a disqualification ticket to attend the event following his past history with Uhuru who once warned him that he should desist from following around like he was his wife.

However, government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said Joho is welcomed to attend the event on condition that he respects he protocol.

"The government has a protocol office to organise the programme. My only advice for Joho is not to go to the media and tell them he wants to be part of the programme," said Kiraithe.

"I hope Joho has the capacity to understand how these events are organised. He cannot be an exception," he added.
