Joho said he will ensure more initiatives that seek to develop the sector that harvested over Sh100 billion is fully exploited for the benefit of the people of Mombasa.

He was speaking on Thursday in his office after hosting Jean Pierre Tutin, who is the Head of Cooperation and Cultural Affairs Department at the Embassy of France in Kenya.

"Together we had insightful discussions about the ongoing collaborative project between the County Government of Mombasa and the French Government on the valuation and promotion of Mombasa as a world Heritage," the former Kisauni MP said.

"The project aims at revamping the Mombasa tourism sector through the conception of cultural products and scenography of the historical background of this great city."

The project on its completion and actualization, he said, is expected to attract more tourists, enable a 24-hours economy and create more job opportunities to young people in the tourism and hospitality industry among other sectors.

"Overtime, the people of Mombasa and France have had a supportive, productive and cordial relationship which has bore fruits in different sectors," Joho added.

"We are grateful for the kind gesture extended to us by our friends and will always support any noble idea that will help alleviate the lives of our people."
