Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s re-election bid has received a major boost following an endorsement from members of the Kisii community.
The community, which forms the critical minority in Mombasa politics, is key in determining the next county chief. The community members said Joho is the right man to take care of their interests for the next five years. While promising to throw their weight behind the outspoken county chief in his re-election bid, the members vowed to come out in large numbers during the August 8 polls. And in return, Joho who is also the ODM deputy party leader, promised to take care of their welfare should he win a second term in office.During the event held on Sunday, Joho was also installed as Kisii elder and was given the name Bosire.Joho’s endorsement comes barely days after Luo professionals living in Mombasa denounced an earlier move by a section of community members who had promised to support his rival, Wiper Party’s Hassan Omar.
