Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho has hailed Kenyans saying that they have shown their desire for change in a nation that is currently taking the wrong political direction.
Speaking on Sunday, during the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) People's Assembly rally in the county, the leader praised Kenyans for their eagerness to have the alliance leader, Raila Odinga, sworn in as the Peoples President.
He said that with Odinga recently being approached by groups of citizens twice, with the groups each time trying to have him take the oath of office, it is a demonstration that they feel more comfortable with his leadership and acknowledge his ability to streamline the nation.
"The urge for change in this country is now pushing Kenyans into attempting to personally swear-in Raila Odinga as their President. They have resorted to walking with bibles to have him take over the nation's leadership," he said.
He added that all the six Coastal counties of Kilifi, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Kwale, Lamu and Tana River are solidly behind the alliance in its quest for change.
The Governor said that the Province will fully back Odinga whose inauguration is slated for January 30 at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.
''I want to assure Odinga that the entire Coast region is solidly behind him as he pushes for change. We will unconditionally grant him the support he needs as he stands for democracy which we need,'' added Joho.
The inauguration, however, depends on the ruling Jubilee party's response after NASA gave it a 10 day ultimatum to call for dialogue failure to which it will proceed with its plans.
