Governor Hassan Joho on Wednesday held a closed-door meeting with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Parliment Deputy Speaker Farah Maalim.
The meeting took place at a city hotel after the three leaders left the Bomas of Kenya where they had attended an opposition gathering convened to strategize on the formation of the National Super Alliance- a union seeking to bring together opposition leaders ahead of the August general elections.
Kalonzo has stuck with ODM party leader Raila Odinga who is Mr Joho's close political ally since the conclusion of the 2013 general polls.
Although it's not clear what the three discussed, a source said their discussion revolved around issues currently affecting the country.
After the meeting, however, Mr Joho had a special message to the former VP.
He lauded the Wiper leader for his relentless efforts in uniting the country adding that nothing will separate the two ahead of forthcoming polls.
"Kalonzo's efforts to unite the country are well known and greatly appreciated," Joho said.
"We will continue working closely together to improve the lives of our people and we shall not relent in the fight against poor governance by the Jubilee regime."
"We discussed several key issues of mutual interest especially fostering the unity of our coalition going into the next general election. We want to ensure Kenyan people get a just and responsive government."
Kalonzo is a Cord co-principal and eyeing the presidency- expecting support from Mr Odinga.
Maalim who lost during the 2013 polls to Senator Yusuf Haji is expected to vie against Duale on a Wiper party ticket.
