Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho insists that he is not afraid of Deputy President William Ruto saying that he is ready for a political battle.
The two leaders have been embroiled in a public spat in recent weeks with a number of pundits linking them to 2022 presidential elections.
Joho who was speaking during the commemoration of former Homabay Senator Otieno Kajwang added that his interest was to defend the Orange Democratic Movement from Jubilee government onslaught.
“Ruto has been attacking me in the last one week but I want to assure him that I am ready for a political battle if that is what he wants,” he said.
“I will get into it and it is you people who will decide the winner. He can’t go around abusing and demeaning leaders carelessly. I want him to be ready for a tight contest because I am never afraid of him,” he said.
The relationship between the two leaders has deteriorated with Ruto labeling the Joho an academic dwarf, remarks that did not go well with top ODM leadership.
