Speaking on Wednesday in Tudor during the marking of the World Cerebral Palsy Day, Joho said he has done his best in addressing issues facing Mombasa residents.

“They can insult me all they want but one thing I want to assure them is that this seat is not as easy as some of them think. It comes with a lot of challenges which I think I have tried to tackle,” said Joho.

The governor has in the recent past come under heavy criticism from his five opponents who have all declared that their names will be on the ballot come next year.

Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar was recently quoted saying all Joho has achieved was bringing celebrities in the county and paying them heavily at the expense of creating employment, eradicating poverty and cleaning the city.

In his defense, Joho said he plans to transform the county, adding that he is hopeful of being re-elected so as to complete his ten-year development plan before he runs for president in 2022.

“When I was elected Mombasa governor I came up with a plan to govern the town and bring back its lost glory. As we speak, I must say that so far so good. I am impressed,” said Joho.

Senator Omar, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti, Suleiman Shahbal and Former Kisauni MP Annaniah Mwaboza are some of the leaders who have declared interest in the Mombasa gubernatorial seat.
