Governor Hassan Joho has hit out at Mombasa gubernatorial aspirant Suleiman Shahbal over his ‘chokoraa’ remarks.
Addressing a crowd at Kisauni area in Mombasa on Friday during his political campaigns, Joho said Shahbal does not understand the difference between a national project and Jubilee political projects. He lashed out at Shahbal accusing him of doing anything to protect and please the President instead of working with Mombasa residents to develop the county. The outspoken governor said he will not be angered by remarks from a loser who does not have any development agenda for Mombasa residents and instead wants to please the President by tarnishing other people names.“I am the ‘chokoraa’ who will floor Shahbal and the other opponents at 8 am on August 8 during the general election,” said Joho.Joho said Shahbal lacks the strategy to woo voters, adding that he will never be the governor of Mombasa. This comes after Shahbal while presenting his papers to the IEBC for clearance, likened Joho’s behaviour to that of a chokaraa. While defending President Uhuru Kenyatta’s move to block Joho from attending the Standard Gauge Railway launch on Wednesday, Shahbal said"I don't think there is any quarrel between the President and Joho, if you behave like a chokoraa you will be treated lika a chokoraa," He accused Joho of disgracing the office of Governor of Mombasa, adding that he (Joho) must be sent home on August 8.
