The campaign seeks to bolster support for Mr Odinga as the country prepares for the 2017 general election.

The ODM deputy party leader will crown the tour in Kisumu town on Saturday with a rally at the Jomo Kenyatta Sports Grounds from where Mr Odinga will address the nation.

"I wish to announce that this weekend, I will lead a team to Kisumu County for a two-day visit where I will meet party delegates, meet ODM MCAs and conduct a road-shows through the city," a Tuesday statement signed by Joho, Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma, Senator Prof Anyang Nyong'o and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed read in part.

"These will culminate in a mega rally in the city on Saturday where we will be joined by our Party Leader Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga. At this rally, Kisumu County will declare its political stand on the 2017 contest."

Joho on September 10, during celebrations to mark ODM's ten years of existence announced he would conduct countrywide campaigns to popularize ODM and Mr Odinga's candidature for 2017.

He has already toured and addressed rallies in Nairobi and Wajir counties.

"The weekend’s activities, along with others that are going on, are not for fun but are part of our mission and duty as a party to educate our supporters and Kenyans in general on why Jubilee must not get another term in office," the statement further said.

"The reasons Jubilee must not get another term are pretty clear. Jubilee does not deserve a second term because of its deliberate policy of economic sabotage."

"Jubilee is pursuing a deliberate policy of impoverishing communities and regions that it perceives to be non-supportive. A regime that does not fulfill its first term promises will not improve and will not care in the second term."

During his tour of Nairobi County, he said he would contest for the presidency in 2022 against Deputy President William Ruto.
